Just days after her fairytale wedding to Jeremy Scheuch, American Pickers star Danielle Colby experienced a profound loss, bidding farewell to a beloved figure she described as a real-life Santa Claus who brought “unexplainable magic” into her life.

Dressed in an elegant powder-blue gown that trailed gracefully behind her, the 49-year-old TV personality exchanged vows with Scheuch in front of family and friends. “In this moment, I was the happiest I have ever been,” Danielle wrote in her heartfelt post. “Standing on the edge of a mountain with my best friend, overlooking the vast ocean, surrounded by loving family and friends.”

Reflecting on Jeremy’s father, lovingly referred to as “Papa John,” Danielle Colby shared heartfelt sentiments about his absence from their wedding. “Our hearts are full, however… we deeply missed Jeremy’s family, who stayed behind to care for his dad as he fought cancer. Their absence left a void in our hearts, but we felt their spirit with us,” she wrote.

A few days after their vows, Colby posted another photo on social media captioned, “Hold on Papa John, we are on our way.” On February 19, the newlyweds traveled from Puerto Rico to Kansas City to be with Jeremy’s father, who was in his final days. Tragically, John passed away from cancer that same day at the age of 70. Known for bringing joy to countless children as Santa Claus for over 40 years, he left behind a legacy of kindness and community service.

Navigating the bittersweet intersection of joy and grief, Colby openly shared how Papa John’s loss impacted their family. “Papa John… You spent your life advocating and creating miracles for vulnerable children. You opened your doors to sprinkle your magic on us during our hardest times. You cared so deeply and loved so fiercely,” she wrote in an emotional tribute.

She continued to reflect on the wedding week, describing the magical moments that felt like his presence. “Even though you were thousands of miles away, trying to heal, you were with us in every moment. In each sunset, sunrise, and every embrace. You may no longer be physically here, but I feel you everywhere. Absolutely everywhere,” Colby shared.
