The next morning, the test’s confirmation left no room for doubt; she was indeed pregnant. Tressa’s strong convictions against abortion meant this wasn’t even a consideration despite her young age. She and her friend approached her mother’s home seeking help but instead of her mother, her aunt was present. Upon hearing her news, Tressa’s aunt demanded she keep it hidden, and when her mother did finally get the news she ran out of the bath, wrapped in a towel, and chased her down the street. It was only after her daughter’s birth that Tressa finally worked up the courage to identify her brother as the child’s father.

Jason, who was now 35, was tried and convicted of rape due to DNA evidence, leading to a four-year prison sentence. The trial brought to light the fact that Jason had abused Tressa since she was only seven years old. Tressa’s life spiraled after this revelation and she became trapped in heroin addiction for a year, feeling completely broken. Years later, she described in a Daily Mail interview how Jason would manipulate her with bribes, blackmail, threats, and substances like joints, drinks, and cigarettes. She was able to break free through the support of her fiance, Darren, and together they overcame their addictions. The Sun reported that Tressa was able to overcome her $500-a-day heroin habit, a huge personal accomplishment in her battle to reclaim her life.

Tressa endured more heartbreak in the years following her daughter’s adoption than many face in a lifetime. In 2012, she and Darren were devastated by a miscarriage. Just days later, her mother passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41. Her mother’s death forced Tressa into an unexpected and emotional encounter with her brother at their mother’s funeral after four years of separation. Though they kept their distance, the siblings were both clearly distraught, visibly crying as Jason helped to carry their mother’s coffin.

In 2018, Tressa experienced joy with the birth of her second daughter, Arihanna. She acknowledges that Arihanna will always know about her big sister. Tressa believes the girls would have gotten along because they have polar opposite personalities with Arihanna being happy and contented while her first daughter was feisty and vocal.

Currently, Tressa lives with her family in Bathgate, Scotland and according to her Facebook page she is the proud mother of four girls. She makes a point to mention that she intends to make them all proud.
