Prince Harry’s UK Visit and Concerns Over Archie and Lilibet’s Future
Prince Harry recently returned to the UK to attend the WellChild Awards. For security reasons, the location of the event was kept under wraps until the day itself. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, remained in the US, where they reportedly will stay unless the Sussexes are granted the police protection they’ve been seeking in the UK.
Royal Heritage and Family Feud
Archie and Lilibet remain unaware of their royal lineage or the ongoing rift between their parents and Harry’s side of the family. Sadly, the children have little-to-no relationship with their royal cousins—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. As things stand, it seems unlikely they’ll forge meaningful connections anytime soon.
Harry and Meghan’s reluctance to bring their children to the UK stems largely from security concerns. While Archie and Lilibet will have the freedom to decide their own paths once they turn 18, the ongoing tensions with the Royal Family make it difficult to envision a reunion anytime soon.
Life in the US vs. the UK
The Sussex family’s life in California offers a stark contrast to the royal life they might have had in the UK. Aside from the sunnier climate, the absence of relentless paparazzi scrutiny is a significant advantage. Harry and Meghan are determined to provide their children with as normal a childhood as possible, shielded from unnecessary public exposure.
Behind the walls of their $14 million Montecito mansion—dubbed “Fort Knox”—Harry and Meghan work tirelessly to protect their children’s privacy. However, their public roles and appearances, including featuring Archie and Lilibet in their Netflix series, have kept the spotlight on the children to some extent.
The Sussexes’ Approach to Privacy
According to a friend of the Sussexes, Harry and Meghan’s decision to keep their children out of the public eye stems from a desire to shield them from the risks associated with their status. “I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can’t,” the friend told US Magazine, referencing Harry’s battle for enhanced UK security.
“William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable. And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see them, but I’d expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does,” the friend added.
A source also told People Magazine that Harry is cautious about showcasing his children publicly. This is not out of a desire to hide them, but rather to safeguard their privacy and ensure their safety from potential threats.
A Complex Future
While Harry and Meghan are committed to giving Archie and Lilibet a grounded upbringing, the unresolved feud with the Royal Family and the ongoing security issues cast uncertainty over the children’s future interactions with their UK relatives. For now, the Sussex family remains focused on protecting their own corner of the world, while the story of Archie and Lilibet continues to captivate public interest.
“Harry’s Commitment to His Children’s Safety”
“He wants them to experience as normal a life as possible, free from fears of kidnapping or harm,” a friend shared. “As a father and husband, Harry is unwavering in his determination to prevent history from repeating itself.”
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet: The “Cool Cousins Abroad”
While Harry and Meghan have full control over their children’s lives until they turn 18, they plan to give Archie and Lilibet the freedom to chart their own course once they reach adulthood.
According to an insider from the Express, the Sussexes are intentionally shielding their children from the public eye until they come of age. “There’s a deliberate effort to allow Archie and Lilibet to grow and develop their own opinions and personalities without public interference,” the source explained.
“When they turn 18, it will be entirely up to them to decide what they want to pursue and support,” the insider added. “It’s likely they’ll be seen as the cool cousins living abroad, enjoying the freedom to live as they choose, while the Wales children will remain focused on duty and tradition.”
A separate Us Weekly source provided a glimpse into Archie and Lilibet’s personalities, describing them as “well-mannered.” The insider shared that Archie is “sweet, curious, and playful,” while Lilibet is “vibrant and happy.”
A Difficult Decision
As previously mentioned, Harry and Meghan have opted not to bring their children to the UK, citing security concerns. This choice, while understandable, has created a physical and emotional distance between Archie and Lilibet and their extended family in the British monarchy.
For now, the Sussexes remain focused on providing their children with a safe, private upbringing in California, even if it means they miss out on building relationships with their royal relatives.
Archie and Lilibet’s Missed Connections with Their UK Family
By not visiting the UK, Archie and Lilibet have been unable to form meaningful relationships with their grandfather, King Charles, or their royal cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. This absence has drawn criticism from royal experts, who argue that Harry and Meghan are denying their children the opportunity to bond with their extended family.
“They Will Start to Ask Questions”
Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, has also voiced his disapproval, accusing the couple of depriving Archie and Lilibet of knowing their royal relatives. “They are getting to the age where they will start to ask questions, as all kids do,” Thomas Markle told New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, as reported by The Sun.
“I can’t help but wonder how Archie and Lilibet will feel in the future when they realize all the experiences they’ve missed out on,” he added.
While Archie and Lilibet are likely to grow up in luxury, they will eventually become aware of the rift between their parents and the Royal Family. A source close to Harry and Meghan told Us Weekly that the couple plans to address their children’s royal heritage “in due time.” For now, however, visiting their royal relatives in the UK remains off the table.
Who’s Behind the Decision?
Royal expert and author Hugo Vickers suggested in an interview with The Sun that it may not be Harry, but Meghan, who has made the decision to keep Archie and Lilibet from traveling to the UK.
The ongoing tensions and security concerns appear to weigh heavily on the Sussexes’ choices, but the lack of connection between Archie, Lilibet, and their royal family members continues to be a source of concern and criticism.
Meghan’s Role in Keeping Archie and Lilibet Away from the Royal Family
Royal expert Hugo Vickers suggests that Meghan Markle may be intentionally keeping Archie and Lilibet away from the Royal Family to maintain control and raise them with an American identity, rather than exposing them to royal traditions.
“I think Meghan wants to stay in control,” Vickers stated. “The children are likely having a wonderful upbringing in California—it’s undoubtedly a lovely place to grow up.”
Prince Harry’s Solo UK Visit
Vickers believes the real challenge will come when Archie and Lilibet grow older and realize their ties to the British Royal Family. “At some point, they’ll come to understand they’re cousins to the Royal Family and could have been part of the experiences Prince William’s children enjoy. Right now, it seems they don’t even know their cousins, which must be both difficult and disappointing for them,” Vickers added.
The expert also pointed out that Archie and Lilibet have yet to meet their grandfather, King Charles, or their maternal grandfather, Thomas Markle.
“It’s really up to Harry to bridge that gap. If he wants his children to meet King Charles, he should make the effort to bring them to the UK,” Vickers claimed. “I’m sure the King would always make time for them, but there doesn’t seem to be much willingness on Harry’s part to make that happen.”
On Monday, Prince Harry made a brief solo visit to the UK for the WellChild Awards. During the event at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, he presented an award to an Inspirational Child aged 4 to 6 and delivered a heartfelt speech. According to GB News, Harry requested the event location remain confidential until the day of the ceremony due to security concerns.
Prince Harry’s Solo Engagements and Meghan’s Absence
Just days before his trip to the UK, Prince Harry attended several engagements in New York City, including delivering a speech at The Diana Award, which honors young people making positive changes in their communities.
Royal Expert’s View on Meghan and the Sussex Children
Neither Meghan nor their children, Archie and Lilibet, joined Harry for his New York events or his recent visit to the UK. Royal expert Charles Rae found it “interesting” that Harry participated in what he described as “royal engagements” without his wife by his side.
Rae expressed doubts about Meghan ever returning to the UK, a sentiment he believes extends to Archie and Lilibet.
“In my view, Meghan will never come back to this country,” Rae told GB News. “And by extension, that likely means the children won’t set foot here either—at least not for the foreseeable future.”
The royal expert pointed out that Meghan has had “numerous opportunities” to accompany Harry to the UK but has repeatedly chosen not to.
Her last visit to the UK was during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. Rae added, “She’s had several chances to return with Harry, but she’s clearly decided against it. On one occasion, she briefly stopped over at a UK airport, where Harry picked her up before they left for another royal-related engagement.”
As the gap between the Sussexes and the Royal Family continues to grow, the likelihood of Meghan and the children reconnecting with the UK appears increasingly uncertain.
Meghan’s Decision to Stay in California
“No, I don’t believe Meghan ever intends to return to the UK, which is truly unfortunate,” Charles Rae remarked. “But she’s made her choice, and she’s committed to staying in California.”
Archie and Lilibet to Inherit Millions
The Sussexes’ children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are set to enjoy financial security as they grow up. Thanks to their parents’ business ventures and royal inheritances, they reportedly already have substantial wealth in their names.
Prince Harry received approximately $10 million from a family trust established by the late Queen Mother, as well as millions from the inheritance left by his mother, Princess Diana. According to a source from GB News, Harry has plans to secure this wealth for Archie and Lilibet’s future.
“The money from his great-grandmother’s trust fund isn’t for him to use—it’s for his children,” the source explained. “Harry wants to set the inheritance aside to ensure Archie and Lili are well provided for in the years to come.”
